Emily Isaacs - Festival Director

Emily Isaacs is a disabled writer and film maker from London.

​

After being a child model and actress, she was a ‘cello teacher, until a major relapse of Sjogren’s syndrome caused her to become bed bound in 2009. This prompted her to do a degree in English Literature in order to change career in to writing.

​

In late 2014, she started going into remission, so after building up her strength and finishing her degree, she managed the production of 13 Graves (2019) with Drop Dead Films, while completing a MA in Cultural and Creative Industries at Sussex.

​

In 2020 she started Scriptworks Productions with her husband, and filmed their first shorts, 'Curveball' and 'The Chased'. 2021 saw her pilot script 'Diamond Alice' reach the BAFTA Rocliffe TV Drama Finals. In 2022 she was accepted into the cohort for the BFI Doclabs with ‘Adams and Eves: The Killer Doctor’.

​

2023 saw,her tv pilot script for the dramatic version of Adams and Eves reached the final twelve of the Jed Mercurio Mentorship Programme and the production with short film 'Gossip'. In 2024, she placed as one of the winning 13 writers on WFTV Kay Mellor Screenwriting Lab, in conjunction with Rollem Productions and Miss Scarlet Productions. She's also just wrapped filming on another short, producing for writer and director Chris Martin for his debut short film, 'Enough'.

She lives in Eastbourne, with her editor husband, and their two children, who live with significant Autism. She also has two adult children.
